Science shows that natural and working lands - forests, rangelands, agricultural lands, wetlands and urban green spaces - can play a key role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. These nature-based solutions can achieve nearly one-third of greenhouse gas reductions needed to meet the global Paris climate commitment.
China and the US, the world's two largest economies, are among the national and subnational leaders taking significant steps to mobilize such nature-based solutions to support their climate goals.
The California-China Climate Institute and The Nature Conservancy held a dialogue to learn how subnational action on nature-based solutions can lead to further national and global climate progress.
