Ph.D. Candidate, City and Regional Planning
Xixi Jiang is a doctoral student in the Department of City and Regional Planning, where she studies two concurrent trends taking place in China's electricity system: the large-scale deployment of renewable sources of generation, and the rollout of liberalizing reforms that introduce competition into the generation and delivery of electric power. She is particularly interested in questions of scalar governance and interactions between local state and non-state actors with the electricity system.
Prior to coming to Berkeley, she has worked at the Committee on Environment, Geography, and Urbanization, an interdisciplinary research center at the University of Chicago, and as researcher and organizer with the Right to the City Alliance in New York City.
