Runxin Yu is a Visiting Student Scholar with the California-China Climate Institute in Spring 2025, and a PhD candidate in management at Tsinghua University’s Institute of Energy, Environment, and Economy. Her research focuses on advancing climate policy design and evaluation, particularly through price-based instruments for carbon neutrality, with a particular emphasis on China’s Emissions Trading System. She has examined critical aspects such as cap-setting design, sectoral coverage, allowance allocation, and market stability measures, contributing to the development of China’s carbon market through academic publications, public reports, and confidential policy briefs. Skilled in utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, she has provided robust insights into policy frameworks. Currently, she investigates the voluntary carbon market and inclusive decarbonization mechanisms, focusing on the integrity of carbon credits, such as forestry carbon offset projects, as well as the design of personal carbon accounts to promote low-carbon lifestyles. Her future research aims to deepen insights into price-based instruments, carbon price management, and the environmental and social benefits of policy designs, while exploring innovative climate solutions.
